This weeks trail runner coffee shot comes all the way from nowhere better then our very own land of Oz. The Campos S.O (single origin) named Australian Mountain Top comes from northern NSW area of Nimbin at an altitude of 450m… (might be a good idea to have a cookie in the other hand when taking this shot!)
Upon ordering the usual piccolo latte I was informed by the specialised campos barista, Kyra, that this S.O coffee is best served ‘al a natural’… (no milk). So that it was…
Hmmm… On first taste, smooth texture, fuller bodied, hinted dark chocolate crossed with very slight crisp taste. Kind of reminded me of something I was chasing around the 95k mark on the last 100k Ultra. A shot of this followed by one of Ryan’s pure magic piccolo lattes sat me in a state of complete calmness… (like I wasn’t before hand!)
The local trail that goes in hand with this specialty coffee is the Razorback ridgeline run. About a 12-15k out and back starting at the base of Razorback (park near bus shelter), Climbs quick up a sealed road turning into fire road. At the top turn left and follow Mt Hercules Rd. this road follows the ridgeline of Razorback encompassing some steep up and downs as well as some of the most amazing views over the Wollondilly and down to the Southern Highlands.
Follow all the way out or turn around when you feel you’ve seen enough of ‘just get to that next corner’ ????
No water at start/finish, but Picton is only 5 mins drive west along remembrance drive, where you will find all you need at r.coffee.co – located in main street near 2nd pedestrian crossing. Check out Ryan’s menu here – R.Coffee.Co As a vegetarian… I can recommend ‘The Grass fed Beef burger’.
Let me know how you go.
